On Youth Day, May 4, I took my child to the Niuheliang Ruins. The entire May Day holiday had been windy and rainy, but the weather on the 4th happened to be genuinely nice, so we hurried out to the Niuheliang Ruins Museum. We took the Changchun–Shenzhen Expressway, and traffic was light the whole way, which made the trip easy.
A visit to Niuheliang
The Niuheliang site is in Lingyuan and is an important historical site in China. To be honest, I have never been especially interested in history, particularly very ancient history. I mostly just wanted to go somewhere and have a look, so that was reason enough to make the trip.
Lingyuan is actually quite close to me, just a little over 100 kilometers away, but somehow I had never been there before. This time finally took care of that small regret.
My first impression of Lingyuan was that it felt clean. The greenery was well maintained, and the air was fresh. The Niuheliang museum area itself is not very large. There was no sightseeing shuttle, and we managed to walk all the paths in a little over two hours. For me, that was enough—seeing the scenery and breathing in the fresh air already made the outing worthwhile.
Before heading home, we also stopped by the Mangniu River Wetland Park. The scenery there was beautiful as well, and I liked it very much.
Progress on the game
Work on My Blog, the game, is still ongoing. I keep coding while constantly going back and forth in my head. Since it is a free game, I do not want to make it too complicated. But every time I finish something, I feel like that feature should be polished a bit more. Then again, I still do not want the whole thing to become overly complicated. So that is how development has been going—writing code while staying stuck in that same indecision.
Of course, I still hope to finish all the coding in May and complete all the in-game events as well. Then in June and July, I want to handle the art and sound effects before finally putting the game online so everyone can play it.
The plan sounds great. Reality is much less cooperative.
Still, I am looking forward to the next stage. Once I begin working on the art, I will share some screenshots and a few more details from the game.
