This test was done on a second-generation Rainyun EP virtual hosting plan that was being used to set up a phpBB forum. The plan costs 8 yuan per month, and the advertised configuration is fairly straightforward:
0.5 GB of high-speed SSD storage, a 200 MB database, unlimited monthly traffic, and 50 Mbps bandwidth. It includes Rainyun protection against CC attacks and 1 Tb DDoS attacks, a free subdomain, a limit of 5 bound domains per EP host, and the EasyPanel control panel.
An additional Hong Kong demo site was later set up for testing:

The EP hosting backend uses EasyPanel. The interface is not fancy, but the available functions are reasonably complete for a small PHP site or forum.

For latency, the domestic ping results were mostly green. One thing to note is that if the service comes under attack and automatically switches to a U.S. node, the speed will drop noticeably.

File upload speed was tested next. In this environment, upload speed fluctuated at around 400 KB/s to 800 KB/s.

Download performance was better, generally staying around 2 MB/s to 2.7 MB/s, which is still acceptable for this price range.

For website loading speed, the test used the phpBB forum deployed on this host. A full reload with Ctrl+F5 took about 6 seconds to finish loading.

After the first visit, opening the site again took roughly 2 seconds.

Overall, the experience is quite decent. The measured download speed did not seem to fully reach the advertised 50 Mbps bandwidth — 50 Mbps works out to roughly 5 MB/s in ideal conditions — but getting close to 3 MB/s on downloads is still not bad. Since this is shared hosting, other users on the same service may also affect real-world speed.
